Social Studies

Introduction to Social Studies

Unit Overview

This Grade 1 unit introduces the youngest learners to five foundational Social Studies ideas —
what a map shows us, how we learn about the past, who we remember and why, why people celebrate, and what family traditions are — through simple, movement-based, teacher-led
lessons.

Thailand is used as a recurring cultural touchpoint throughout the unit, helping students see the same human patterns (maps, memory, celebration, tradition) show up in a place different from their own.
